The Crazy 88 were the personal army and a major Yakuza gang under the command of O-Ren Ishii, the "Queen of Tokyo's underworld". Despite their name, there were not exactly 88 members; Bill speculated the name was chosen simply because it "sounded cool". The gang was led by the formidable Johnny Mo and was known for its uniform appearance, wearing black and white suits and black Kato masks. Most members wielded traditional katanas, though a few used other weapons like axes or a meteor hammer.
